In a large saucepan over medium heat, whisk together everything except spinach and onion until smooth and piping hot. Add spinach and onion. Serve

Combine cut okra, onion, salt, pepper, water and egg. Mix well.

Combine flour, baking powder, cornmeal and garlic powder. Add to okra mixture, stirring well.

Fry over medium heat until well browned on both sides.

Drain on paper towels.
